भारतीय मूल के जाने-माने अमेरिकी वैज्ञानिक और प्रतिष्ठित कारनेग मेलन यूनिवर्सिटी (सीएमयू) के प्रेसिडेंट सुब्रा सुरेश को चीनी विज्ञान अकादमी के सदस्य के तौर पर नामित किया गया है।
यूनिवर्सिटी ने एक बयान में कहा कि सुरेश ने विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में अमूल्य योगदान दिया है। उन्हें द्रव्य विज्ञान और इंजीनियरिंग सहित बीमारियों की अवस्था से संबंध स्थापित करने वाले नैनो मैकेनिकल कोशिका संरचना के कामों के लिए जाना जाता है। चीन में विज्ञान और तकनीक के क्षेत्र में चीनी विज्ञान अकादमी की सदस्यता सर्वोच्च अकादमी सम्मान है। इस वर्ष नौ विदेशियों को इसके सदस्य के रूप में शामिल किया गया है। सुरेश को ग्लोबल रिसर्च काउंसिल के माध्यम से वैश्विक स्तर पर विज्ञान और इंजीनियरिंग संवाद का नेतृत्व करने के लिए सम्मानित किया जा चुका है। इस वर्ष मई में काउंसिल की वार्षिक बैठक बीजिंग में आयोजित होगी। सुरेश सीएमयू के दूसरे फेकल्टी मेंबर हैं जिन्हें अकादमी की सदस्यता से सम्मानित किया जा रहा है। इसके पहले 1994 में दिवंगत हरबर्ट सिमन को भी चुना जा चुका है।

The membership of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is the highest academy honor in the field of science and technology in China. This year nine foreigners have been included as its members. Suresh has been awarded for leading science and engineering dialogue globally through the Global Research Council. In May this year, the council's annual meeting will be held in Beijing. Suresh is the second faculty member of CMU to be awarded membership of the academy. Prior to this, the late Herbert Siman has also been elected in 1994.
